I love nature, the great outdoors, photography, my FAMILY!, being with fun, kind and funny people, reading great books under a tree, the colors coral, pink, and all the blues, cloud pictures, roasted broccoli, white sandy beaches, did I mention trees, cotton candy, tea time, hyacinth, Christmas, spring, fireplaces, piano music, and chapels.
I have a zillion more to add to this list.
I received a master’s degree in Deafness at The University of Arkansas, (Woo pig sooie!). I’ve worked at some amazing places, with some amazing people, including a State School for the Deaf, A National college for the Deaf in New York, an organization providing services for Deaf people on an Island in another country, Canada, and a tech
I received a master’s degree in Deafness at The University of Arkansas, (Woo pig sooie!). I’ve worked at some amazing places, with some amazing people, including a State School for the Deaf, A National college for the Deaf in New York, an organization providing services for Deaf people on an Island in another country, Canada, and a technology company in Dallas Texas.
I also got to establish the American Sign Language program at Prosper High School in Texas.
And now, I get to share Sam and Dak with you, as you learn a few signs, to have fun with your friends, and any new Deaf friends you meet along the way.
I met Sam (Samantha) many years ago, at my very first job with Deaf people. I remember her to this day! I was still learning sign language then, and the students at the school delighted in teaching me the wrong signs for the words I was learning. They had a jolly good time giggling as I proudly, confidently showed off my sign skills!
This book was written as I reflected on Samantha, and watched Sam, “Dak” (Dakota) and “Sanjay” all happily playing and signing together on the playground, as I filled in for their teacher one crisp fall day.
